The League of United Latin America Citizens (LULAC) is the oldest and largest Hispanic organization in the United States. In 1929, three Texas organizations - The Order Sons of American, The Knights of America, and League of Latin American Citizens - merged to form this great organization.  They banned together because the members of these organizations knew that by becoming one, they would have a greater impact in developing an awareness of the specific needs, contributions, and culture of Hispanics.

LULAC firmly believes that education is key in gaining economic, political, and social equality. LULAC also stress citizenship, improvement of educational opportunities, maintenance of our cultural heritage, the extension of human rights, educational excellence, and improvement of economic conditions. One of the most important avenues used by LULAC to implement its long term goals is through LULAC Youth Councils.

LULAC Youth Councils offer training for its members through social, civic, sports and parliamentary activities. Affiliated Youth Councils, organized and chartered through the Youth Organization.
