LATINO (A) JUDGE CAMPAIGN FOR CHELSEA

The League of United Latin American Citizens ( LULAC) seeks to increase a number of Hispanic judges in the Commonwealth and in this City of Chelsea.

Hispanics now constitute 8% of the population of Massachusetts and are the largest minority in this City of Chelsea.

Public justice can not be served by a judicial system that does not understand its clients. The lack of Hispanic judges prolongs stereotyping and obstructs justice.

The Governor must realized that a Court should look and sound like the people it serves.

Therefore LULAC joins the forces of Chelsea’s Commission on Hispanic Affairs, MAHA and civic, political, religious and other organizations in demanding that the position to be vacated in August of this year to be filled by a Latino/HispanicJudge.

The Latino community has been discriminated far too long and it is time that we are treated and respected as equal citizens with equal opportunities.
