KEY STRATEGIES & OBJECTIVES

Increase membership:

Membership Services: Print and distribute LULAC constitutions, membership cards, and LULAC pins for all members. Use computer database to keep tract of member and council data including addresses, dues, delegates, enrollment dates, etc. The database will also be used to print labels for all members, merge letters, council charters, member cards, and member/council rosters. Develop and print a guide for starting LULAC Councils and a member handbook that describes successful programs that councils can implement in their communities. Establish a LULAC credit card and a discount card that can be used with selected LULAC corporate supporters. Print and distribute a catalog containing information about LULAC merchandise that members can purchase. Establish a 24 hour LULAC hotline for members to call for assistance. Open membership to individuals not associated with a particular council. Consider lowering membership dues to attract more individuals.

Recruitment Campaign: Create incentives for councils to bring in new members and establish new councils, publish brochure outlining membership benefits with a membership application to distribute to potential members. Send targeted mailings, and distribute brochures to community organizations and during community events.

LULAC Publications: Publish high quality monthly magazine highlighting LULAC activities and other news of importance to Hispanic to be mailed to all members and other influential individuals. Keep members informed of breaking news through the use of a LULAC fax service. Distribute periodic issue briefs focusing on one issue.

LULAC Net: Establish a computerized network for LULAC members to receive information and communicate with each other and the national office. Include forums on LULAC programs, issue, membership information and council activities. Provide workstations for National LULAC Board.

Health fairs and brochures
Headstart
Housing projects
Employment training
Literacy
Family counseling
Day care
Leadership

Legal Services
Employment arbitration
Small business development

 Conferences: Hold a series of conferences around the country highlighting issues of importance to the Hispanic community.
